Casa Primitivo

The house needs urgent repairs, and it was clear it wasn’t being maintained or cleaned. We found cockroaches and scorpions throughout our stay, and the rooms had cobwebs with no fans or air conditioning. The portable pool had a rusty frame and unsafe access. The kitchen was frightening to use: there weren’t enough proper utensils for 14 people, the pots were old and rusty, and the pans’ Teflon peeled when they got hot. Power surges and outages are an issue in this rural area, and we had to serve food by candlelight. The water pump kept shutting off, and the system lacked enough pressure. The washing machine is in the neighboring house, which is also rented out, so you have to ask permission to do laundry there. The old wooden windows in the house and rooms were very difficult to open and close. The owner insisted that we conserve water because the area has rationing. Barichara is a 15-minute drive away. We don’t recommend staying here.
