Hotel ByHours Las Americas

The single room was the best I’ve stayed in anywhere in Bogota. It felt like a double room, just a bit smaller. I booked three nights at first, then added another three until my departure from Colombia. For the quality and service, I’d expect to pay two or three times as much at other top hotels I’ve stayed in around Bogota, over 20 of them. This modern place in Kennedy has all the conveniences, and puts some 5* hotels in Chapinero or La Candelaria to shame. The name gives the wrong impression. “By-the-hour” and “Adults-only” don’t sound like a conventional hotel, and I’m not sure why they chose those descriptors. In reality, the hotel is excellent value. Breakfast wasn’t quite the American breakfast some booking sites suggest, but it was still a really good spread, better than what I’ve had at some expensive Bogota hotels. The breakfast staff made sure guests were full for the morning and the service was impeccable. The staff really are as good as earlier reviews say. They noticed when I missed breakfast and offered to make me some, and offered coffee while I was waiting for a taxi. There are some great restaurants nearby, and nightlife around Plaza de Las Americas is about a £2 taxi ride away. A taxi from the airport should cost around £8. I’d paid nearly £8 to have clothes washed in Chapinero, so I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel laundry service and its price. I’d recommend it. I’d choose this over the touristy parts of Bogota again. The value is exceptional, and the tourist areas are only a 15-20 minute ride away, around £0.6.
