The rooftop breakfasts were peaceful, and we really liked our clean, cozy room with its own balcony. Carlos and his family were so kind and hospitable, and made us feel at home. The hotel also has beautiful historic Indigenous roots, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Our stay got off to an unpleasant start. We'd booked an extra night because we were arriving at 4 am, but the room was still occupied by people checking out at 12:00, so we had to wait until around 13:00 to get ours. The temporary room was small and cold, with water on the toilet floor. The window looked over a courtyard where noisy people started breakfast at 07:00 am, so it was impossible to rest or sleep. Once we got our room, it was spacious enough, clean enough, and the breakfast was good too. Just be aware that, except for one staff member, nobody else speaks English.

The colonial feel was really charming, and it was easy to explore Candelaria from here, with plenty of good restaurants and bars nearby. We stayed two days and everything went well. The staff were very helpful, and the hotel had all the amenities we needed. I’d definitely recommend it.

Carlos and his family made this one of my favorite hotels for a city break. They were so welcoming and keen to help. We had to leave at 3 a.m. for a flight to the rainforest, and Carlos got up early to arrange a waiting taxi and pack us breakfast to take along. The rooms are beautiful, and they also prepare homemade food on the lovely roof terrace, which looks out over the city on one side and the mountains on the other. Thanks, Carlos.
