Sofitel Bogota Victoria Regia

Camilo the Consierge made a short visit so easy. As soon as I arrived, he put together an itinerary for the things I wanted to see, and he was so warm and friendly that he’s the main reason I’ll come back. At the restaurant, Keyme and Cristian made the food and service a real pleasure. Everyone was professional and made me feel like a guest in a beautiful home. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. I hope you let these special people know the impression they made.

The service and hotel itself were very nice, but a string of charges left me feeling nickeled and dimed and took away from what could have been a five star stay. I was charged over $60 for extra service tips on a two night visit, on top of the tips already paid at the restaurant. The charge was simply presented without explanation or asking whether I wanted to pay it. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world and had never encountered this kind of undisclosed add-on. I also had breakfast credit for two, but was charged for one breakfast when a friend visiting was not allowed to use the second credit. That restriction wasn’t explained in advance. They initially failed to credit the pistachios and minibar items that were on sale, too, and only fixed it after I brought it up again. They removed all these charges when I asked, so be prepared to have that conversation. These pricing tactics feel excessive and manipulative. If they want to raise rates, they should just raise them instead of relying on charges that aren’t clearly disclosed.

I slept really well in a quiet room with a super comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked, the bathroom was easy to use, and the shower had nice warm water. At breakfast, the continental spread had everything I could want, including lactose-free milk.

The staff really went above and beyond. The room was tidied and restocked twice a day, and the housekeepers even brought us tea in the evening. Keyme, Cristian, and Carolina were all attentive at breakfast, which was delicious. We also used the hotel’s transportation service: after a show with a chaotic exit, they arranged a car to pick us up at 2 a.m. Another time, when we asked for water in the car and there wasn’t any, the concierge ran through the rain to bring it. The room was very comfortable, and the location made it easy to walk to most of the bars and restaurants on our list. We had a lovely stay at Sofitel in Bogotá and highly recommend it.
