Hotel Asturias

The pool is nice, and breakfast was mediocre. The pizzeria is average, though the prices are good. Rooms are clean, the service is very friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant, but they're noisy enough that you can hear everything happening in the hotel. Some rooms are tiny, lack daylight or hot water, and the WiFi coverage is really bad, so don't expect to relax with Netflix or YouTube. Some of the workers speak English quite well.

Nice place, and the pizza is good, though Bandido in Cabecera does it better. Good work, Asturias!!!

The waiters and manager mostly made excuses instead of trying to give us a pleasant meal. Their unwillingness to sort things out was the worst part, almost as if they'd conspired to leave us with a bad impression. Our artisanal pizza came without cheese, and we were charged 14,000 pesos for Parmesan on the pasta, including tax and tip. I suppose the pasta didn't come with cheese because it wasn't included with the dish, but we weren't expecting dry food without it. I don't recommend either the pizza or the pasta. Food quality: 3 out of 10; service: 2 out of 10 for attitude, not speed.

The pizza came out completely cold, and the dough was raw. We ordered four cheese, but it was just a huge amount of the same cheap cheese mixed with starch. There was no blue cheese, ricotta, or Parmesan. This place was a source of local pride for decades, and it would be sad to see it become only a memory. Owners, please look at quality control and payroll, and consider bringing in a good consultant. A business with 50 years behind it shouldn't throw away its reputation through ridiculous cost cutting. Something seems seriously wrong here, and management is likely part of it.
