Casa del Puerto Hostel & Suites

The photos make the hostel look much better than it is. It was pretty dirty, the service wasn't great, and the price felt too high for what we got.

Carlos made us feel at home with how helpful and welcoming he was. We stayed five days, and the location was great too. The staff were friendly throughout.

We were given a bigger room, and the pool was practically right outside our door. The pool in the middle of the hostel is a real highlight, and the whole place has a lovely vibe with very welcoming service. Manuel was always around to answer questions, and his two rescue cats, Marco and Mara, made us feel at home. It's a little outside the city centre, which lets you get away from some of the chaos. Only downside was that the night guard didn't enforce quiet hours enough, so guests could get noisy.

The beds were comfortable, and the staff were attentive and friendly. We felt safe in the nice neighbourhood, though it took a taxi to get to the plaza. Our room was very cramped for four people, and climbing into and out of the top bunk was difficult without waking everyone. There was quite a lot of black mould in the bathroom and on the lower bunks. We also had to ask for the air-con remote and room key, since they weren't handed out.
