Hostal Cartagonova

The kitchen was spotless and well stocked, and the air conditioning made a big difference in Cartagena’s heat. We were recovering from food poisoning we’d had in Medellin, so we didn’t see as much of Cartagena as we’d hoped. The owner and staff were wonderful, though, and went out of their way to help us feel better. We really appreciated how kind everyone was.

Breakfast was fresh and lovely each morning, and the house was kept clean and run on time. They clear breakfast promptly when the serving time ends, so keep that in mind. The host was so thoughtful and made sure we had what we needed; her activity suggestions were great, and we had a blast following them. The place matched its description and felt full of care. Bring bug spray if you can. It wasn’t a major problem, but it would make the stay even better.

We were a bit worn out after a rough trip when we got to Hostal Cartagonova late, and Señora Marta welcomed us so warmly. When we woke up with sore throats, she made us a soothing tea. Rosario also made us really good breakfasts and helped us choose and book fun things to do. Our room was very clean, and the common area was comfortable. It’s around a 10-minute cab ride or a half-hour walk to the old city. I’d happily stay again.

Miss Marta was lovely and took a real interest in what we’d been up to. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Honestly, book here before you settle on a five-star hotel.
