The staff were friendly, but sleeping was really difficult. A loud, rough venue next door played music until at least 2 or 4am on some nights. People talked loudly in the foyer at all hours, very late and very early, and all the rooms are close to it. My room had no windows and felt like a prison cell, though the bathroom did have a skylight. Every shower was completely cold, not even a little warm, and the internet kept dropping out. I also had mosquitoes in my room every night. Sorry for the brutal review, but that's how it was.

The beach here wasn't as busy as Boca Grande, which was a nice change. The hotel is technically outside the Walled City, but close enough for a short walk, and getting to the airport by Uber after breakfast and a beach walk was easy without worrying about traffic out of the walled city. The breakfast was delicious, and our room had a handy fridge with a snack and drink bar. I stayed here for the last night of a two-week trip to Cartagena. For a budget stay, it was perfect, with the best service, room cleanliness, and amenities of the places I stayed.

The Wi-Fi was bad, rooms weren't cleaned, and the trash was left behind. There were roaches and bugs, no hot water, and breakfast cost extra. The area also felt bad at night. Hardly any employees were willing to use Google Translate to communicate.

Hide Jewel felt like staying with family. Some rooms may be a bit small, but the staff and access to the whole facility are hard to beat.
