The lake is the star here, especially at sunrise and sunset when the sky and trees reflect across the water. I loved being able to take in the view from the room, the terrace, or along the shore. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with big windows and cozy balconies that make the most of the scenery. There’s kayaking and fishing if you want to get out on the water, or you can just sit by it and enjoy the quiet. The hotel is tucked among forests beside a peaceful lake, with fresh air and a calm feel from the moment you arrive. The staff are warm and welcoming. A lovely place to slow down and enjoy nature.

We planned to stay at Happy Buddha hostel for two nights and wound up there for six. Between waking up to the lake view, playing with the adorable dogs and cats, eating well, and hanging out by the pool with a beer in the sun, it’s easy to get attached to the lifestyle there. We tried a private room with its own bathroom and a private apartment. Both were lovely, and the beds were really comfortable. The apartment’s little front porch was just perfect. The hostel is a little way from town, but there’s daily transport. We rented bikes instead and loved the priceless views. The bar and restaurant have good prices, and the Red Thai Curry was delicious. There are big parties at night, too. I loved my stay!

Come for the party atmosphere and the big pool, good music, and lively vibe. This isn't the place I'd choose if I needed to rest. The rooms weren't very clean, and I found fungus growing on the window, as shown in the picture. The menu is simple and feels a bit pricey for a "hostel."

The terrace has such beautiful scenery, and there are lots of spots around the hostel to just relax. Staff were attentive and helped us with day trips and local tips. They also had a chalkboard listing things to do in Guatapé and the prices. There's a kitchen if you want to make your own meals, though the restaurant food is pretty good too. Try the Veggie Burger!! The place was decently clean and everyone was friendly. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

I could keep listing things I loved about Happy Buddha Hostel. There’s a dock where you can jump into the lake, plus a jacuzzi, pool table, ping pong, and a really cool lounging net. The pool was great for relaxing, the views of the big rock right from the accommodation were iconic, and the property felt very secure behind its large closed gate. The staff were so lovely, and it was the cleanest accommodation I stayed in while in Colombia. Free coffee all day, too. My stay was amazing, an 11/10 thanks to everyone working there.
