Viajero Guatapé Hostel & Lake Club

The pool and hot tub were lovely, and I ate some very good food at the restaurant, though a few things felt overpriced. The place itself is beautiful and has plenty of potential, but my full dorm seemed not to get cleaned during the several days I was there. With eight people sharing one room and bathroom, it really needs cleaning at least once a day. I came for a quiet lakeside escape where I could work, especially with the advertised coworking space. Instead, that open-air space sits above the pool, where club music and heavy bass played at full blast from morning till night. Daytime and nighttime have different moods, but here it was Pitbull at max volume first thing in the morning. There was nowhere on the property to get away from it or relax and work. The internet barely worked outside the coworking area anyway. Getting there is also awkward, since the spot is isolated, not pedestrian-friendly, and transport is hard to find. One small change: silicone wristbands would be better than cards, like at other Viajero locations.

I almost couldn't believe this was a hostel when I checked in. It's right beside a lovely lake, with a pool, lounge, bar, and really fabulous staff. The dorms are very affordable for what you get. Sofia was especially helpful. Thanks, everyone, I had a great weekend!

The chalet had lovely lake views, and we made good use of its jacuzzi in the evenings to unwind. Around the hostel, there's also a nice pool overlooking the water with lots of beds for guests, plus activities and watersports. We had a great stay, and a special thanks to Suzanne, rocelle and Jonathan for all their help.

The views are beautiful, so I didn't mind the hostel being about 20 minutes from the centre. It's insanely beautiful, and the staff were lovely too. Special shoutout to Kevin, Raquel, Isabella and Camilo.
