Hotel Bahía Del Faro

The only real plus was the location. My room was filthy and in poor shape, with the sink leaking onto the floor. It was above the restaurant, where loud music played until 10, and guests played games in the middle of the rooms, which made things uncomfortable. When I came down around 7:30 to leave, no receptionist was around. I left a note with the room key and waited until 8, but still nobody showed up. People were waiting for breakfast, and there was no staff in the restaurant. At check-in, the receptionist hadn’t even told me the breakfast time, Wi-Fi details, or other basic information.

We couldn’t shower in the morning because the whole hotel had no water. Breakfast was troubling too: they heated the omelet in a microwave, and after handling a dirty rag someone touched my plate without washing their hands. The room wasn’t ready when we arrived, so staff spent 30 minutes rushing to clean it. Even then, there were shoe prints in the bathroom and hair in the bed. For 420000 cop, that wasn’t acceptable. We’d been told the room had a lake view, but a parking area right outside the window blocked it. I’d sent questions through Booking before leaving and got no answers. Instead, they told me to register by 8 pm on check-in day, even though I’d already been at the hotel for five hours. I rarely write reviews like this, but I wish I’d seen one before booking.

Our stay was far too expensive at 420.000 COP per night for what we got. The view of the piedra de peñón and the cute garden were lovely, but there was no proper parking area and nobody at reception when we arrived. The room matched its description, though the bathroom had a strong moldy smell. The hotel and restaurant also wouldn’t take card payments. There was some kind of event during our stay, with concert-loud music, people yelling and running in the halls, doors slamming, and games going on into the early morning. Worst of all, at midnight an employee unlocked our room and came in without knocking or asking. We felt our privacy and security had been violated, and couldn’t understand why staff would need access to a room at that hour.

Lovely scenery, with Guatape town and the Peñol stone very close by. A nice spot to enjoy with family, friends, or your partner, and the food was delicious.
