Hotel Guican de la Sierra

The restaurant food is delicious, though you need to order 2 to 3 hours ahead so they can get the ingredients ready. They also have fast food. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with hot water in the shower. The hotel is across from the main park in Guican.

The hikes were the one part that went well, thanks to our guide, Mr. José, who treated us very well and helped however he could. He made the visit worthwhile despite the hotel. We chose Hotel Güicán de la Sierra because of its very good reviews, but the service was quite bad and everything felt complicated. When we arrived on Sunday there was no staff member, just a worker who wasn't sure who we were. She said we'd get our room keys the next day. The next day we were given the wrong key, and after we searched for a while, they said they couldn't find ours. In the end, we had to keep opening the door through the window. The courtyard rooms carry every sound, so there was a lot of noise each night from people eating breakfast at 4 am before their walks. Our first night was especially rough, with a group shouting over breakfast at 3 or 4 am. We asked about dinner and were told 6 pm. When we showed up then, the cook said we'd have to wait an hour because he had a large group. The food was average and expensive for what it was. You can eat better and cheaper at the restaurant on the corner. Breakfast was very good the first day, when we ate at 4:30 a.m. before our walk. The next day, our guide said we should leave at 4:00 a.m., so we asked the cook twice if breakfast could be at 3:30 a.m. He said that was fine. But at 3:30 there was nobody there and no breakfast. Apparently a certain Oscar, the manager, whom we had never met or seen, changed it to 4:00 a.m. without telling us. When we asked what had happened, there was no response or apology. The service was terrible, the price high for what they offer, and communication very poor. There's no one in charge to organize things, or if there is, they're nowhere to be seen. For example, we were told to arrange meals directly with the cook, but he can't always be there keeping an eye on things.

A great spot on the Main Park of the same name, with comfortable rooms and excellent customer service. The location lets you see and experience what's happening in this lovely municipality in the North of the Department of Boyacá.

Right in the main park, with nice, comfortable rooms and a nice bathroom. I liked that the restaurant could serve us in case we left early. The only thing is that if you move around a little, you can hear the trachea softly, and there's a plasma TV.
