Hotel Varuna

Breakfast was awful, and there wasn't a hairdryer in our room. The bathroom door squeaked annoyingly, and both the large window and the bathroom window were filthy and had no screens. I wish I could give half a star, or none.

The front desk service was awful. Our TV signal wasn't working properly, and nobody on staff was willing to fix it. Breakfast was okay, but the coffee was bad. You'd expect decent coffee in this region. I will not be back.

The room looked nothing like the photos. The bathroom seemed to have been repaired over and over, the floor and paint were peeling, the towel hooks didn't work, and the shower drain clogged so water pooled while I showered. The doors had to be slammed shut, and other guests' slamming kept waking me. I paid for three nights but left after the second. Goodbye forever, hostal Varuna. They charged the entire stay to my credit card as soon as I arrived, then told me guests weren't allowed past the lobby and that I'd be charged 80,000 pesos if they did. The pictures show a gym, but there is no gym equipment. The jacuzzi was out of service, and the Wi-Fi was a complete joke. This is not a 3-star hotel at all, more like a hostel with an elevator.

The hotel is very clean and has a modern look. It's just a short block from a main street in an area with bars and clubs. The staff were really pleasant and helped sort out our booking and luggage, and gave us information about the city. We had a great stay and would come back.
