The main downside was that food could take a long time, since there’s only one person handling the kitchen. Still, this was a great place to relax and lose track of time in the hammocks, and I’d gladly come back. It’s beautiful and peaceful, close to Pozo Azul Waterfall, with cute furry friends and a really nice host who’s always ready to help and answer questions.

Pablo made our stay awesome on his own. He’s one of a kind, and you don’t meet people like him every day. The rooms are cozy but very basic, with no toiletries or hot water. Breakfast comes with the stay and there are several options. Minca is generally a hippie, outdoorsy place with a laid-back feel, so I doubt there are many luxurious options in the area. If you just want somewhere clean and chill with the basics, this place could be great. Getting here with large luggage isn’t very convenient, but backpackers should be fine.

A cozy hostel with clean, nice rooms right next to Pozo Azul. The food selection is great, and the staff were incredibly helpful and kind. They can also arrange a moto taxi whenever you need one. And the hot water was a lovely surprise in north Colombia!

Pablo was so welcoming and kind, and he speaks good french too! The setting is quiet and beautiful, with private access to the river. The food is yummy and includes some vegan options. The cats are beautiful ♥️

This is a rustic, peaceful hostel with roomy rooms and comfortable beds. I liked falling asleep to jungle sounds, and the strong window netting helped keep out Minca’s many insects. The lead staff member was a woman, I think her name was Caro Vittoria? She was kind, friendly, and responsive, and we appreciated having her around. You can walk to nearby natural attractions like waterfalls. Even so, based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The biggest hassle for us was getting there with suitcases. It’s a 15-minute walk up a dirt road, or five minutes by motor taxi, from the nearest paved road. The centre, with its restaurants, is about a 35-minute walk. That’s manageable in daylight, but hard at night or with bulky luggage. One local with a 4x4 can take luggage up the dirt road for 60,000 COP, or you can book a motor taxi from town. They can carry luggage too, but we didn’t know that on arrival, so getting from the bus terminal with a taxi and then a 4x4 was very expensive. We wish we’d known before booking, since with suitcases we would have preferred somewhere nearer town. It felt like a lot of arranging and expense. There’s no wifi in the bedrooms, or at least it didn’t reach ours, and mobile data didn’t work either. We only had a connection in the common area. Breakfast was included but basic and small, and the food in general was hit and miss and slow. One person was working hard in the kitchen, so I understand the wait, but the food quality and portions surprised me after reading the positive reviews. If you love animals, this may not bother you, but there are two cats and a dog. The cats jump onto chairs and tables while people are eating, and there was fur on the benches and chairs.
