Hotel Los Portales

Hotel Los Portales Inn has three courtyards with rooms around them, in a style that reminded me of Spanish architecture, though I don't know the building's history. There are plenty of places to sit outside, the Wi-Fi is strong, and breakfast is tasty. The staff are really friendly, especially Fernando, who helped me sort out the awful lavanderia across the street. I felt safe in the neighborhood, even at night, and saw lots of families staying here. It seems well suited to a big family trip or booking several rooms. My complaints were hair in the shower and bathroom that definitely wasn't mine, and the room could use a fan. I'd still recommend the hotel.

For a very low price, you get a clean hotel, strong Wi-Fi, a queen-sized bed, a great shower, and friendly reception staff. The main square is a lively five-minute walk straight to the right, with people, food stalls, and coffee shops like Juan Valdes Tostao. I highly recommend staying here in Popayan.

The rooms are clean, breakfast is good, and the staff are friendly. The location is good, and there are plenty of rooms for large tour groups. The bathrooms in the rooms are small.

Good value, good service, and a nice spot in the historic downtown. I'd definitely recommend it.
