Les Balcons Hostel

The place is central, the kitchen is decent, and it's kept clean. They also provide towels, which I appreciated. My room had no windows, so the smell wasn't great. There was just one bathroom, with the shower and toilet together, for at least 10 people, meaning there was always a line even in low season. The toilet seat and shower head were broken. Reception knew, but seemed not to care. The receptionists also seemed uninterested in their work, had no information about anything, and stayed at the desk all day. The hostel has a lot of potential, which makes it sad to see it go unused.

The people working at Les Balcons really make the place. Everyone was amazingly kind, and I could tell they genuinely cared about the guests. They gave me great recommendations and looked after me well when something bad happened outside the hotel. The house itself is spacious and comfortable, the dorms and mattresses are cozy, and breakfast is good. It felt like a home away from home. Thank you!

The rooftop hangout area was fun, with a ping-pong table and a Bluetooth speaker. My girlfriend and I stayed two nights in November 2018. The staff, especially Sebastián and David, were friendly, and our room and bathroom were both large and clean. The location was pretty good too. A few things could be better. Breakfast was just one egg and a small piece of bread, which really wasn't enough. The room felt empty, with no chair or table for our things. And the mix-up between “Les Balcons Hostel” and “Hotel Los Balcones” in Popayán is terrible. ¡Gracias Sebastián!

The dorm beds are big and super comfortable, and the showers get nice and hot. There's a new kitchen and a cool atmosphere. The staff are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. It's well located too. I recommend it 100%!
