Hotel Villa Blanca

The room was spacious, with a balcony, a bright sliding glass door, and floor tiles I liked. The shower had strong pressure and hot water, and its glass door looked nice. WiFi was fast enough for Skype, there were plenty of outlets, and breakfast was pretty good for 7,000 COP. The egg was a little salty, though another restaurant's was just as salty. Two nearby places charge about 4,000 COP, but having breakfast at the hotel is convenient. It's a good budget hotel, clean and with a large white room. A few things are basic: no hangers, just one chair, two lights total, and no bedside switch or reading lamp. I was on the third floor, up two flights of stairs, and there's no elevator. None of that bothered me much. The toilet is squeezed beside the sink, though, so sitting there leaves my right arm pressed against my body. I can move my left elbow freely, so it's manageable. The location is handy, just across the bridge from the old town and about 0.7 miles from the bus station, an easy walk.

The spot is hard to beat, just across the old bridge and a few steps from Plaza Caldas. The staff were friendly and very helpful. This is a small new hotel with a great price, especially if you're traveling alone. Some rooms facing the kitchen get noisy, and the inside garage can bother guests on the second floor. Also, further along 6th avenue isn't somewhere I'd go at night.

The location works well, just beyond the old town and around a 10-minute walk from the bus station. Rooms are a decent size, and the staff are attentive. Breakfast being included is a nice bonus at such a competitive price.

Just past Puente del Humilladero, this place is a good deal. For about what a dorm bed in a Popayan hostel costs, you get a proper hotel, a comfortable and very tidy room, and excellent service at the desk. Breakfast costs an extra 5,000 pesos.
