What a badly run business. The owner got in touch on June 11th to dispute and defend their position, taking no responsibility. They’ll nickel and dime you over every little thing, and I’ve never dealt with a business so entitled and unwilling to properly look after its customers. They may try to devalue this post in a reply, but I can assure you everything here is 100% true. The hotel itself was unacceptable: poorly maintained and seemingly abandoned. The photos do NOT match what it’s like. Everything was dirty, with mold, a urine smell in the room, stains on the bedding, and ants crawling on the floor. The pool was disgusting, the air conditioning sounded ready to break, and there was no restaurant. How were we supposed to eat?

It’s a nice place to get away from everything, about a 20-minute walk from Puerto Nariño. If you book ahead, they’ll pick you up by boat in Puerto Nariño. Ask for directions to Alto de Aguila, then ask there how to reach the hotel. Tours are available too, and we enjoyed our stay, including the nice breakfast. We’d come back. There’s a small pool and good WiFi in the pool and dining area. The rooms come with either air conditioning or just fans, and the beds were very comfortable in both types. The air-conditioned rooms have balconies.
We visited in December 2019. It was one of the nicest spots we stayed in, with a beautiful garden, though I’m sure it gets more attention in peak season. The family-run cabana is peaceful and right by the river, very close to Puerto Nariño. I think there’s a footpath; otherwise, the owner’s boat takes about five minutes. The place and restaurant seemed like they’d once been in good shape, but both needed more care and cleaning when we were there. Breakfast was quite basic, and a power generator nearby ran loudly for much of the time.
I really enjoyed staying at eco hotel aldea amazonas. It’s a little way from the city, but probably one of the best places to stay in Colombia. There were lots of lovely monkeys around.
The breakfast was good, but the place is pretty run down. Dogs started barking by our door in the middle of the night, and it was hard to get them to go away.
