La Posada de la Plaza

Waking up to sunlight on the balcony and the soft sounds of town was one of my favorite parts. Our room at La Posada de la Plaza was comfortable, with a private bathroom, working Wi-Fi, and a view over the square or town. The wooden stairs and coffee drifting in from the street gave it a very Salento feel. The location is the big draw: Carrera 6 #5-34, right by the main square and close to Calle Real. I could walk around town, grab coffee, or catch a Jeep to Cocora Valley without needing a car. There are just 11 rooms, which helps keep the place quiet. It also has a shared kitchen, free Wi-Fi, reception open around the clock, and a small supermarket downstairs. A double room was around US$35, or COP 150,000-200,000 a night, which seemed fair for the location. A couple of things to keep in mind: rooms facing the square may get evening noise from music and people outside, so a back room or one facing the mountains could be calmer. Parking may involve a bit of a walk, and the private lot might be tight. This isn't the place for a pool, spa, or five-star resort service. But if you want a clean, comfortable base in the historic center, close to cafes, viewpoints, craft shops, and the Cocora Valley, I recommend it.
