Mochila Hostel Salento

Indira and Gloria were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to help us, with excellent recommendations. Indira arranged taxis whenever we wanted to go between the hostel and town, even late at night, and organized our 5am airport taxi too. The bus stops right across the road and comes often. The location is a good choice if you'd rather be a little outside the very touristy town, full of backpackers. We had a spacious room with comfortable beds, and the common area was a lovely place to spend time, with a couch by the fire and a hot tub for relaxing. They were also making improvements while we were there, including bringing in lots of cosy new furniture. There's some traffic noise because it's near the road, but the lovely surroundings make it easy to forget.

Carolina and Juan made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and were the main reason we easily decided to extend our stay. Casa Mochila was the best place we stayed in all of Colombia. It's in a beautiful location, with cosy rooms, friendly and excellent service, and a nice jacuzzi. So many good things about it. 100% recommended!

The place looked even better than the pictures, and the staff treated me with courtesy and respect. They were professional, attentive throughout, and made me feel special. It was peaceful and tranquil, with quiet, respectful guests, and the amenities felt welcoming, especially the hammocks, jacuzzi, and lobby sofas that felt like home. Valle del Cocora and the Town of Salento were close by to visit, and breakfast was great. I'd recommend checking it out.

The biggest disappointment of our trip. After a long hike, we stopped to see a room, and the woman, who I assume was the owner, showed us two very tiny, simple rooms. I asked a few questions about the jacuzzi, especially why its water was cold. She said she didn't like my face and told us to find somewhere else. Then she shouted at us to leave her hotel because she didn't like the expression I was making. I work in tourism myself and have never met anyone so rude.
