Salento Pequeño Hotel

We slept really well here. The beds were big and comfortable, which can be hard to find in Colombia. The decor is simple and open, and nicely done, with a lovely view. The man at the entrance was attentive and helped guide us while parking on the steep incline. We had a lovely stay, thank you!

We found the cabin style really comfortable, especially the back deck, where there’s a lovely view of the greenery and room to eat outside. The place is about a six-minute walk from Salento Bus Terminal and roughly the same distance from the town center. It’s tucked behind the big hotel, which makes that a useful landmark, day or night. Inside, there’s a two-burner gas stove, mini fridge, sink, cookware, dishes, glasses, and cutlery, though no condiments. There’s also a small island for two, plus a deck dining table, four chairs, and two bar stools. The bed was very comfortable, and there’s an extra single bed with another pull-out single on wheels. The bathroom is spacious and has hot water. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and I’d definitely come back. A few things to know: mornings can get chilly, so use the extra blanket. Strong wind can make the glass door rattle at night, and mosquitoes can get in, especially if you leave the door open for a breeze.

The staff were professional and very helpful, and having Super Patacon Restaurant just across the driveway was a nice bonus. It’s open from lunch through dinner. The hotel is outside the tourist area but still close enough to walk, and the rooms have a lovely mountain view. The queen bed was large and comfortable, something I rarely found in Colombia. You can choose from several breakfasts and set a time for it to be brought to your room. The internet was patchy and unreliable, though. There were meant to be three networks, but I could only ever see one, so it wasn’t suitable for digital nomad work.

The only real downside was the noise along the street, which wasn’t something the hotel could control. Dogs barked late into the night, and roosters and cats were up early, around 5am. Otherwise, we loved our stay: lovely room and view, great staff, and an easy five to ten minute walk to the middle of town. Coffee tours and other nearby activities are easy to get to.
