Hotel Kalma

We had a lovely anniversary surrounded by the garden, trees, birds, iguanas, flowers, and pool. The hotel feels peaceful and beautiful, and we were glad we spent the occasion there. Staff made it special by decorating our breakfast table with flowers and trying to help us sort out every issue. The food was delicious, the poolside beds were very comfortable, and we liked both of the spacious, lovely rooms we stayed in. We booked because the hotel advertised bathtubs with hot water, but that wasn't accurate. They didn't seal properly, and the water temperature kept changing, turning hot for a few seconds and then cold. There were plenty of good things about the hotel, and we managed to overlook the bathtub problem during the stay. What left a bad feeling was the owner's response when we brought it up. He stopped answering our messages, didn't apologize or offer compensation, even though the rooms with bathtubs cost significantly more. He also deleted a message where he'd confirmed that the tubs would have hot water. That cast a shadow over what had otherwise been a wonderful stay.

The staff were very attentive and gave great service. It would be nice if guests could bring in consumable items, and I hope they pave the remaining unpaved section of the access road.

The atmosphere really is peaceful and quiet, just the kind of calm you need. It's close to the main park, with excellent service and well-kept facilities. Part of the road is unpaved, but small cars can get there easily.
