Buena Vista Chic Hotel

We enjoyed the coffee trail walk to start the day, followed by a delicious breakfast. The property is lovely, very clean, and in a quiet area far enough from the airport that planes didn't disturb us. The room was on the small side, but plenty adequate for us. Everyone was friendly, especially Marlon, who makes great drinks and keeps the bar and restaurant running smoothly.

I gave four points because the rooms are good quality and most of the staff are very friendly and attentive. Still, both times we stayed, despite booking well in advance, we were given one of the worst rooms in our booked category. On our first arrival, it was the room beside reception, with loud noise late into the night and again early in the morning. Our transfer was almost two hours late, which can happen, since four other guests were waiting for delayed luggage. But after arriving late at 9:10pm following a long flight, we couldn't even get a quick beer. The bar was closed, and they wouldn't sell us a bottle or can to drink in the room. We also weren't given time to have the welcome drink and were told to go to our room. That felt very unfriendly. The second time, we'd booked a superior balcony room and were assigned room 13, which had the worst view, no mountains, city, or pool, just a badly maintained side view of the building. When I pushed back, the woman at reception said there was no other option because all the rooms were occupied. The friendly man there offered room 22 instead, smaller but with a pool view. It seems most rooms don't have a buena vista. The lunch choices were also extremely poor, so we had to go elsewhere. There are many better options five minutes away by car.

We found plenty to do while relaxing here, with the pool, bar, gardens overlooking the valley, and even a small coffee plantation. The hotel is clean and friendly, and from check-in the welcome was warm and the service great. It feels like they've been doing this a long time and know what guests might need, from a well-stocked little medicine shop to tours they can book for you at short notice. Breakfast was included in the price and was great, which helped since there isn't much nearby we'd want to try instead. The evening menu was appealing, though a little limited for vegetarians and vegans. The hotel is close to the road, so traffic is audible, and it's near enough to the airport to hear planes overhead. The decor wasn't to my taste, but that's subjective.

We stayed in one of the villas and had a marvelous view. The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean, and the staff were attentive and professional. My family and I had a wonderful time. The location is quite central and not too far from most attractions. We'll definitely be back!
