This is an old hotel, but the room was comfortable. Ours was small, with the shared bathroom across from the communal kitchen. When I tried to book, the manager said they were full, so I booked online right away. The app confirmed 22,530 CRC, but he initially quoted 45,000 CRC. I said that wasn’t the price shown, and he lowered it to 36,000. After I showed him the app, he quickly agreed to the confirmed amount.

The rooms were clean, and the shared kitchen made it easy to cook our own food. The whole place feels close to nature, with a pool, and it’s handy for getting around Cahuita: the busstand is 200m away and the national park is an easy walk. The French owners are friendly and helpful, and the pets deserve a special mention, they’re playful and sweet. I’d recommend it for the price. You can pay by card online when booking, and it works well for solo travelers, couples, or groups.

Cabinas Cahuita was a peaceful place to spend three nights, with everything well organized and thoughtfully looked after. The kitchen had the equipment I needed to make meals. Flo was a warm, helpful host and happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. The location was convenient too: Cahuita National Park is a four-minute walk away, and there’s a supermarket two minutes away, though it’s pricey. I had a great stay and would recommend it to people visiting the area.

We spent a month traveling around Costa Rica, and this may have been our favorite stop. My boyfriend and I would happily come back. Kim, Flo, and their two pups made us feel welcome, and the other travelers, including locals, were friendly, respectful, and mature. The garden was lovely for quiet time, watching wildlife, and enjoying all the different plants. Kim also gave us great local suggestions, and we really appreciated her authentic manner and sense of humor.

We’d absolutely stay here again. The outdoor area, pool, and kitchen made it easy to relax and meet other travelers, and our room had comfortable beds and a good shower. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, even pointing us toward the park, where we saw dozens of monkeys, sloths, birds, and snakes. This was the best place we visited in Costa Rica.
