Cabinas Iguana Cahuita

The grounds feel like a national park. During our two weeks there, we saw agoutis, iguanas, toucans, lots of colorful birds, different frogs, and a sloth. The pool was a joy, the hot water worked, and our room and bathroom were cleaned regularly. Fernando, the manager on field, was especially kind and attentive from the start of our stay right through to the end. Thank you so much for this experience! 🤍

Sofia and Martin were so helpful in arranging what we needed during our week here with friends and family. The cabins were clean and had plenty of towels and sheets, and we loved the pool and shared areas. There was wonderful wildlife and plant life around the cabinas, including monkeys, birds, frogs, and much more. Playa Negra is nearby, and town is about a 15-minute walk. We had a wonderful stay. The guesthouse was spacious and had a great kitchen, and the price was good for the location. From the front porch I saw lots of bird species and lizards, and even a sloth in a nearby tree. It’s a quick walk to a very nice beach and restaurants. The owners were kind and helpful, check-in was quick, and when we had trouble with the hot water, they fixed it right away. Inside, though, the cottage was really gloomy after sunset because it was lit only by a few small lamps. The WiFi was very slow whenever it managed to connect.

It’s a very quiet place, run by a really nice family and grounds workers. The rooms are clean and the pool is large and scenic. Keep an eye out for sloths and iguanas. We found the shared wc/shower and kitchen to be the cleanest communal facilities we’d come across in Central America at this budget. It’s a bit of a walk to the main restaurants and such, but it’s a pleasant one, and you might spot sloths along the way.
