Hotel Roca Verde Beachfront

The rooms let in a lot of highway noise, and the beach was covered in litter. The place itself also felt run down. We were there Thursday and Friday during rainy season. Thursday was okay, with local artists playing live music. On Friday a local classic rock band started off rough and got a little better as the night went on. The lead singer was awful and couldn’t carry a tune in a coconut. The food was good and reasonably priced, and the people there were very friendly and helpful. Service was good.

My friends and I came to look at the rooms, and the owner was very rude and unwelcoming. The dogs were aggressive and attacked my dog, who can’t walk. My dog has a huge wound. I had a terrible experience, and this was the worst place I stayed in Costa Rica. It didn’t feel like a place with welcoming energy or where you could feel at home. There are lots of other places to enjoy the pura vida life.

You get a fantastic view of the beach, and it’s hard to find another bar in the area with better beach access. The food is good and fairly reasonably priced for the area. Good food and a good time. Check whether they have live local music on, there’s some real talent that comes through these "doors".

The staff were attentive and friendly both times I stopped by Roca Verde, once for lunch and once for dinner. We tried cevice, calamari, salsa, and chicken soup. Everything was made from scratch and tasted extremely fresh. Since the restaurant is right on the beach, you can take a walk there and enjoy the nature after a good meal.
