La Joyita is a garden gem, with a beautiful hand-built wooden cabin that keeps critters out and stays cool. The hosts are delightful, and have thoughtfully supplied kitchen essentials, linens, and good coffee. With the beach and freshwater streams flowing in nearby, it’s an exceptional place.

Alexis made getting around easy, helping us plan tours and an itinerary and arrange taxis. The beach is easy to reach, though town is about a 20-25 minute walk. The road is narrow and dusty, so a taxi or your own ride is a good idea. You can hear it from the cabin, but there wasn't much traffic after dark and it didn't disturb our sleep. We had a great four-night stay.

We loved the relaxed, private feel here, with the sea right there and direct access to the beach. The cottage garden is lovely, and birds enjoy all the trees. A great place to stay in Drake Bay if you want to slow down and be by the ocean. It really gives you a sense of what Pira Vida means.
