Cabañas del Rio

Our cabina was easy to find, and being able to park right beside it was so convenient. It had three rooms, which made it a good fit for our family. The place was very clean and felt safe, and it’s close to everything. The pool was warm and nice, and this was a great base for a night tour. We got to see beautiful birds each morning, including toucans. Excellent!!!!

A well-stocked kitchen was a welcome extra, especially with how pricey restaurants can be in Costa Rica. The location is good, and a beautiful jungle garden behind the rooms leads to rapids. We saw lots of tree frogs ourselves during the day and again on the complimentary evening tour with Leo. The service was friendly and consistently excellent, the kids loved the pool, and breakfast was delicious. Our room was lovely, spacious, and very clean. Its three beds were each tucked into a separate nook or bedroom, which worked so well for our family.

The night frog tour staff and everyone at reception were so kind and welcoming, and housekeeping did a fantastic job throughout. Breakfast was included, delicious, and a great start to the day. We stayed at Cabañas del Río as a family, and the spacious room had enough beds for everyone. The pool was great, and the lush, peaceful garden was a lovely place to relax after exploring La Fortuna. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return. Highly recommend for families in the area!

The guided night walk, included with the stay, was so cool. We saw blue jean frogs, red eye tree frogs, a porcupine, and all kinds of insects. Leo was an expert guide, and his knowledge and passion for the flora and fauna of CR made this the best guided tour we had in all of Cost Rica. Our other tours cost $, and although I enjoyed them, they didn’t compare. We also spotted monkeys, iguanas, butterflies, and incredible birds in the viewing garden. This little motel is slightly off the beaten path and was absolutely perfect for our family of four, including two teens. My husband and I had a separate bedroom with a king bed, and each kid had their own sleeping area. With a full kitchen, pans, and utensils, we could make a quick breakfast each morning before our adventures and save money. The place was spotless, service was amazing, and we highly recommend Cabanas del Rio.
