Such a nice surprise. The guy at reception, maybe the owner, was really sweet and helpful, always thoughtful. The place is more of a relaxed family business than a luxury stay, and I totally recommend it if that's what you're after. Great value for the money, too. Breakfast was the best, with fruit, juice and eggs.

A small room, but who stays in their room in La Fortuna? It's clean, well located near what you need, and the bus station is about two blocks away. We had a simple American-style breakfast every day, eggs, toast, fruit and coffee. The bed was comfortable, the shower warm, and the WiFi good. There's a kitchen, though we didn't use it. Staff were kind, but had limited English while we were there. There were insects around, so it may not suit everyone. They seemed helpful with arranging tours, but ours were already booked elsewhere.

The breakfast was delicious :) Staff were friendly, but only the husband speaks English. They take cash only. The shower is outside and only has cold water. The toilet is indoors, though you have to go outside to wash your hands and brush your teeth.

Stay far away from this place. It was a nightmare: no hot water and everything was broken. The owner was a complete jerk and didn't give a damn. If you see the place, run.

A great spot for alternative travelers, backpackers and road-trippers.
