Hotel Bijagua

The owner was incredibly kind and helpful, and it’s clear they care about their guests. Our room was more like a mini apartment, with lots of space, everything we needed, and a clean, peaceful feel. The landscaping is beautiful and serene, so you’d hardly know the property is right on the main road. Gated parking was a nice bonus. We didn’t use the pool, but saw several families enjoying it. I’d stay again in a heartbeat.

Karen and her husband at reception were very welcoming and helpful. The complex is nicely laid out, with a great pool, volcano view, kitchen facilities, and plenty of room to relax. My room was spacious and clean, with a fridge, TV, and air conditioning. There’s no breakfast served at the hotel, but Red Frog next door has a good range of quality options beyond the usual Costa Rican dish. One night a pack of dogs barked nonstop until early morning and kept me awake. I know other guests were kept up too. I’d suggest the owners talk with nearby businesses and residents to find a solution, since the noise must be disturbing others in the area as well.

The owner is super nice and easygoing, and the place was quiet and peaceful, with no kids running around or loud people. We loved it. There’s a beautiful garden, pool, outdoor seating and kitchen, and even free laundry. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the bathrooms look nice and new. It’s near a grocery store and some very good restaurants within walking distance. You can also borrow the new bikes for free to ride around.

The location worked really well, close to the town center but just far enough away from the tourist foot traffic. Arenal and the hot springs are a very short drive away. We had a great time here. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and good value, with air conditioning that worked really well. It was fairly quiet, apart from some roof noise if you’re on the second floor.
