The gardens are a real oasis, full of birds and monkeys, and the view from our semi-private balcony was lovely. The property itself is amazing, and the food was nice too. The room was clean and comfortable enough, with screened windows and a ceiling fan. The bathroom was decent. Melvin and his wife were friendly and very helpful. We only stayed one night, and with kids aged 5 and 4 it was hard to keep them quiet for the other guests who were birdwatching. They loved swimming in the river and going on the night tour.

The fruit posts just off the porch brought tanagers, honeycreepers, and plenty of other birds close enough to watch. Breakfast was delicious, with a great view over the river. The gardens and wildlife were gorgeous, and Melvin, Stephen, and Pierre were so kind. They made our honeymoon feel extra special. Their suggestions for places to visit were spot on, from local ‘sodas’ to places to explore. Heliconia was amazing, a paradise for anyone who loves nature.

Your own private balcony gives you a view over the tropical garden, and every room has one. The garden is easily the most beautiful I’ve seen, with wildlife all around, including howler monkeys. This island is an absolute must when you’re in Costa Rica. Magnificent place!

We had a lovely few nights in the rainforest. The rooms were comfortable and kept the mosquitoes out, and the dinner menu was small but tasty. Breakfast came with fresh fruit, toast, scrambled eggs, and coffee. Across the beautiful garden, at least ten kinds of birds, including hummingbirds, were having breakfast too.

I could happily stay here forever. The garden mixes rare ornamental plants with untamed jungle, and there are river views all around. The breakfast was great, and so was the conversation. Nature and comfort are in a lovely balance here.
