That red snapper was cooked just right and practically melted in my mouth. Dinner came with rice and beans, homemade pico de gallo, and what seemed like a vegetable omelet with spinach and queso fresco. I had a very generous glass of wine, my husband had two beers, and the whole bill was a little over $50. Some people have complained about the price, but for the quality and amount of food, it felt very reasonable. It’s a tiny place with a homey feel, so just relax and enjoy. We hadn’t stayed there, only come for dinner after arriving late from the bioluminescence kayak trip at Bahia Rica just up the road. They offered us a choice of protein, and our host and abuela took care of the rest. I think it was my favorite meal in Costa Rica.

The owner welcomed us with his whole family and was really kind. It felt like they were inviting us into their home. We had fresh beer and a very large plate of meat, beans, rice, and salad for a good price. The wifi and swimming pool were a big bonus, and we had a lovely time there.

Dinner at Manitos was some of the best food I’ve ever had. Manito is delightful, and I can’t recommend his cooking enough!

The food was good, but basic, with decent portions of rice, beans, and salad alongside the protein. It was fine, just fine, and not worth $20 per person. Our family came for dinner and had to choose a protein, chicken, fish, or something similar, since there was no menu. We asked about the price, but the server seemed not to understand. We felt we got gringoed.

Catalina was very friendly, speaks English, and arranged a nice, spacious room for us. We ate here every day we were in the area, and the food was very nice with vegetarian options. It has a homey atmosphere. We could rent kayaks from Bahia Rica, and the place is very close to a beach. The ferry was about a 20-30 minute walk away.
