Hotel Mimos

I've stayed at Mimos several times, on my own and with my partner, and the staff have always been helpful and accommodating when we've asked for anything. The rooms are consistently clean, quiet, and comfortable, with easy access to the pool and bar. With its central spot between Quepos and Manuel Antonio beach, plus the amenities at a great price, it's a fantastic base for exploring Costa Rica's Southern Pacific zone.

The one good thing I can say is that the AC works. The pools look like they haven't been cleaned, so I wouldn't even try them. This place is outdated and needs help ASAP. The photos online seem to be from when it was new. The sheets no longer look white, have holes, and smell, and the toilets are rusty. The rooms feel creepy at night. I'm usually someone who tries to make a bad situation better, but this was a thumbs down from me 👎👎👎👎👎

The manager didn't have our room keys, so we waited 20 minutes for her to find them. The sheets were dirty and stained, there was no bed cover or WiFi in the room, and we found cockroaches. The toilet was rusty and the shower handle was broken. The place is between Quepos and Manuel Antonio, with nothing nearby. The road outside has fast traffic and no sidewalk, making it unsafe to walk. The worst part was that they kept our passports and luggage in a locked room, saying someone in our group had stained a towel and sheets. They demanded $200 from the family, which felt like an attempt to extort us, and wouldn't open the door for anyone not connected with the incident. I wouldn't return.

For a budget hotel, it was decent. The rooms were clean and spacious, as were the three pools, and there was plenty of greenery. They could use some paint and a little TLC. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. There isn't a restaurant on site, but the one across the street was very good. It's 20 minutes from the beach, with an easy-to-use bus stop across the street. Wi-Fi was unreliable in the rooms but worked well in the open areas.
