Camino Verde Bed & Breakfast Monteverde

There are a couple of things I found odd. Food and drinks aren’t allowed in the rooms. Coffee and tea are free all day, and popcorn is offered free in the afternoon, which is generous, but guests are expected to wash their own cups and return them. Some people only rinsed theirs, and I saw others take popcorn straight from the popper with unclean hands. I know that isn’t the hotel’s fault, but it put me off. I’d rather pay for coffee and know the cup is clean. Hotel Camino Verde is a lovely little hotel with wonderful staff. Our room was small but comfortable and well equipped. There’s secure parking, and a cozy wood-burning stove in the evening. The location is great too, just a short walk into town.

The location was handy for both the cloud forest and town. They took care of our bags, parked our car, arranged our zip-lining tour, and put us on a free shuttle to and from the zip-lining place. The receptionist, Jocelyn, was the most humble person we met. The hotel was very clean, and breakfast was fresh.

The location made it easy to get to Monteverde’s amenities, including restaurants, and the person at reception was helpful and informative. The room was nice, though a bit crowded with not much free space around the furniture. Breakfast was included, but it took ages to arrive. I’d asked for a vegetable omelet, but because of the language barrier I was served ham. I found out they didn’t have vegetables and could only make a cheese omelet, so I had to make do with what else was available at the buffet.

Traveling solo, I felt comfortable and they made everything easy, especially booking activities for me. I really enjoyed the breakfast choices and had a great time on the night tour too. I’d definitely stay again!
