Eddy`s Place

The best part was breakfast, which was really good. Freddy, the owner, and his family were friendly and helped us book local activities, including zip-line rides, as well as a shuttle back to SJO. We visited in December over Christmas, and the room was comfortably cool for sleeping. Monteverde is a hill station, so there are no fans or ACs. My main issue was the Wi-Fi. It kept dropping, and speeds were around 2-5 MBPS, so I couldn’t stream anything. I only used it to read local tourist information. It got a little better after 11:30 p.m. Downtown is an easy five-minute walk.

The breakfasts were delicious and a great way to start the day, and Freddy welcomed us with detailed local tips and a map. Our room was clean and comfortable, with an awesome view. Freddy’s Place was just right for our three nights in Monteverde. ¡Gracias Freddy, esperamos que regresemos pronto!

The atmosphere was warm and personal, and dropping off our bags was easy. Breakfast had a good range of options and tasted great. For the price, it was good value. The rooms don’t block sound very well, so strong winds can make it quite noisy. Freddy said that night’s storm was unusual.

A family death meant I had to cancel our trip. The policy said a full refund was possible if we canceled or changed within 15 days, and I tried to reach Freddys more than 15 days before our stay. I sent three emails and called twice but couldn’t get through to anyone. Update: it turned out there was a technical glitch and my emails weren’t going through. I got in touch through their Facebook page, and they promptly refunded the trip. I hope to return and book with them someday. Thanks, Freddy, for being so understanding.
