Hotel El Atardecer

The sunset over the Pacific coast can be seen from the hotel terrace when the weather cooperates. The rooms were clean and spacious, the shower was nice, and the bathrooms were clean too. Breakfast was generous and tasty, and the staff were welcoming. My only issue was the bathroom faucet being rather close to the sink wall, which made things like brushing my teeth a bit awkward. Nights can also be quite noisy because of the wind, though that seems to be common across Monteverde.

A friendly, family-run little hotel with lovely shared spots where you can read or watch the sunset. The views of the sunset are stunning. Rooms are simple, with no air conditioning or heating, but we didn’t need either, and the showers had hot water. Breakfast was included and wonderful. Good value, with parking and wifi.

A good option if you’re looking for a very standard place in a great location and want quick, no-fuss service. The rooms felt bare and not very comfortable, perhaps because the hotel gets so many tourists. Still, the staff were nice.

It’s basic, but it has what you need and sits in a great location. The local breakfast was wonderful, and the staff were attentive and happy to help. We loved staying here. Pura vida!
