The kitchen has limited hours, 9am to 8pm, so you can't make breakfast earlier or eat after evening walks. Breakfast is only from 7 to 8am, and it was late on two days, making it impossible to get to the reserve early. Want coffee at 8:01? Breakfast is over. The rooms were loud and dirty, and didn't lock. Our window faced the street, had no lock or curtain, so people could look in while you showered or used the toilet. The owners were very unfriendly. There's a drying rack, but we were told to dry dishes right away with the gross towel, which was always damp and unchanged for all three days. We were stopped on our way out because we'd left clean plates on the rack, and other guests we spoke to had the same thing happen. The photos show monkeys, but they feed them. Please don't support a business that feeds wild animals. I've stayed at hundreds of hostels, and this was one of my worst experiences. It's cheap for a reason. I have no clue how it has good ratings. Zero stars.

This budget-friendly hotel was a great experience. The Mora brothers take good care of the place and make guests feel comfortable. They're helpful, knowledgeable and ready to assist with everything. Andres Mora booked tours and transport for us, and we got the best tours in town. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed staying at Moras Place Monteverde and would happily recommend it to travelers looking for a comfortable, affordable place in Monteverde. The communal terrace was our favourite spot, with beautiful views for morning coffee or relaxing after a day out. It's a short walk to the centre of Santa Elena, so restaurants, shops and tour operators are easy to reach. Breakfast is included, simple but satisfying, and the shared kitchen made it convenient to prepare other meals and save on eating out. The rooms were generally clean and good value, and the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. It has a lovely Costa Rican character and delivers a comfortable stay, though it's not a luxury resort.

We slept a little roughly because Santa Elena gets so windy, and the windows and balcony kept rattling at night. The balcony itself had lovely views, though it didn't make the place feel very social. Inside, the room, bathroom, and kitchen were all spotless. The homemade breakfasts were delicious, and both brothers were glad to answer questions and help set up tours. We arrived at 8:15pm, fifteen minutes after check-in, and a staff member came from his house to greet us so kindly. I'd stay again.

Room #5 was clean and smelled fresh, and the Wi-Fi worked well on both our phones and laptop. My buddy and I thought it was a lovely little place for the price. The staff were friendly, and the balcony gave us a nice view over town and the surrounding area. Breakfast is free if you get up early. I'll 1000% stay here again next time I'm in monteverde.
