La Jolla Hotel

The rooms were large and clean, with access to a nice balcony, and the staff were very attentive. The central location made it easy to walk to lots of places. But we couldn’t sleep on either of our two nights until late, about 1 am one night and 3 am the other, because of loud music from a restaurant with live music and a nightclub across the street. I was also disappointed there was nowhere useful to put clothes, no dresser or clothing rack, so we had to leave everything in our suitcases.

The owner, Roy, was very kind and helpful. The rooms were roomy and really clean, with a comfortable bed, and the price was great. Nearby restaurants playing loud music can make it a bit noisy at night.

When we got back, my PC was gone. I’d hidden it under beach towels because we didn’t trust the place, and it looked like someone had gone into the room looking for things to steal. I reported it to the person who’d said he was only the maintenance guy, but he told us he couldn’t help, though he could try calling the owner. He said the cameras hadn’t worked for a while. Another guest who heard us said he’d seen someone in his room the previous night after returning from the beach. When he asked what the person was doing there, the boy said he had the wrong room, apologized, and left. The guest had noticed his window lock wasn’t working properly. Eventually the maintenance guy said the owner wasn’t answering and that we could go to the police to file a complaint. He gave us a phone number, and we left very disappointed. Later, we realized he’d blocked us on WhatsApp. It was a nightmare, and a mistake to stay even for one night. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you want to keep your belongings safe or have a nice time. There are so many other options, and this is the worst place I’ve ever stayed. The worst part was that nobody tried to help us. I’m leaving photos below to show I’m not lying. We’d arrived a little before our reservation, and nobody was there except one person who said he handled maintenance, not the hotel. We asked if we could leave our bags somewhere while we walked around town, but he said he couldn’t and left us waiting there for a long time. Eventually he gave us a room, we left our things, and went out.

Cockroaches in the bathroom, filthy rooms, and dirty pool water. The doors and windows were broken, so anyone could get into the room. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
