Vida Verde

The rural, still untouched surroundings were beautiful, and Playa Avellana nearby is great for surfing. We spent two weeks here and loved the welcoming hosts, the lovely double room, and the well equipped kitchen. The outdoor space, with its pool and all the plants, was wonderful too. We saw hummingbirds, monkeys, and butterflies every day. They also offer extras like laundry and surfboard rental. I liked that this guesthouse makes an effort to be economical and close to nature. I’d recommend it to anyone.

We wish we’d stayed longer than 6 days. The walk through the mangroves to the beach was magical, and our hosts arranged a surfing lesson that the kids really loved. Joelle and Simon made us feel like family. When our boy got a really bad ear infection, they did everything they could to help, and I’ll always be grateful for that. The cabins are gorgeous and tucked into a beautiful spot. We slept well in the comfortable beds, had a great shower, and found the kitchen wonderfully equipped. There are hammocks, plus butterflies, iguanas, hummingbirds, and monkeys around. Joelle and Simon were always glad to go the extra mile to make our stay special. We absolutely loved it.

Avellanas beach is laid back for a touristy spot, with good waves for learning to surf and a decent break at the river mouth rock reef. We also saw turtles, monkeys, and iguanas. Joëlle and Simon are wonderful hosts, and their place is immaculate. It’s all a bit spread out, so definitely rent a car, though it’s easy to get around and people are super friendly. Try Cactus for local food and Lola's for seriously good piña coladas. I can’t wait to come back.

Joelle and Simon were brilliant hosts and always happy to go the extra mile. The cabins are tucked into such a peaceful, beautiful spot, with lots of thoughtful little touches. We loved the comfortable beds, great shower, and well equipped outdoor kitchen, plus the bonfires and hammocks. Hummingbirds and monkeys were around too. It was a totally magical stay. We LOVED it.
