Hotel Guadalupe

I’ve been eating at Hotel Restaurant Guadalupe four or five times a week during my extended vacation. It’s become my regular place for breakfast and lunch, and I get takeout there too. The staff are warm and accommodating, and they’ve even helped me learn how to customize orders in Spanish. I like my eggs and steak well done, and the meals are consistently flavorful. Their house hot sauce is made for the restaurant and isn’t sold in grocery stores. I add it to breakfast. My usual lunch or dinner pick is the 225 g Lomito a la plancha, a tenderloin seared in a skillet and served Argentine style with fries, salad, and garlic-chimichurri sauce. It’s delicious with a glass of white wine, and costs $18.12. For breakfast, I love the Costa Rican plate: scrambled eggs, rice and beans, plantains, fried cheese like halloumi, and a tortilla, with coffee or orange juice for $10.53. The restaurant is great. I stayed overnight, and it was worth it, though our room faced a main road and was a bit noisy.

I went for the shrimp teriyaki bowl and really enjoyed it. My friend liked her bowl of red fruits with shrimp too, and another friend loved the chicken sandwich.

The portions are generous, the food is great, and the service is very good. Gael speaks English too!
