Everything is within walking distance, though it's a small town, so that would be true wherever you stayed. The kitchen is shared. I was woken at 4 AM by a rooster, and a club nearby plays very loud music. It was fine, but I wouldn't come back.

We spent two nights here with my girlfriend. Our room was perfectly clean, and the person at reception welcomed us warmly and was very kind. The group of cabinas has a great atmosphere, with hammocks, little sofas, lots of plants, and birds. It's also well placed in tortugerro. I saw the comments about noise. There is music in the early evening, but it didn't bother us. At other places we've heard heavy rain hammering the roof or howling monkeys. The host also provides earplugs if you need them. We had a great stay!

The room was comfortable, and the kitchen was really clean and had all the appliances you need. Great location too. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone going to Tortuguero.

The rooms are tiny and extremely dirty, with almost no staff around. The mattresses are paper thin, and the walls seem even thinner. The whole place smells of mold, and the sheets, mattress, and pillows smelled like the sweat of the previous 20 visitors. The bathroom was filthy, rusty, and old. The state of the place is shocking. There's also a club across the street, so music goes on until at least midnight. A lot of the photos and reviews on Google Maps seem to be linked to the neighbor's place, so check the details yourself. You don't check in at the hostel. You check in where the boat docks, at their partner booking office, Tortuguero Adventures. The staff there are friendly, and the tours they offer seem good, but that doesn't change how bad the hostel is. Check the pictures for more details.
