Getting up to the hotel for the first time could be stressful if you're tired, driving in the dark, and dealing with questionable cell service. The road is no joke. After seeing it, I think I could drive it, but I was glad we hired a private driver from the airport and didn't have to worry about it. Once there, everything felt quiet and luxurious. The staff were warm and went out of their way to help. We enjoyed all our excursions, especially birdwatching on the property with Alex and a private yoga session with Carol. Highly recommend.

Swimming as the fog moved in and out was such a lovely part of the stay. The rainforest yoga area was cool, and we also stretched on the toucan deck, where the view is hard to beat. The fitness room has what you need, including bands and a yoga mat. Both of our rooms had their own kind of beauty, but the toucan treehouse was our favorite. Its teak design and views made us feel right in the rainforest. The scenery is incredible. The chef's meals were made with care, and every one was superb. I had the breakfast quinoa waffles every day, and they even made a birthday cake for my wife. Staff were on top of things from the moment we arrived. The rooms were cleaned while we ate breakfast or went out. This was a true five-star stay and a perfect place for a special visit. Worth the cost.

After three nights here for my birthday, during a two-and-a-half-week trip around Costa Rica, I can say this was the best service we experienced. It was thoughtful and always there when we needed it, without ever feeling overbearing. They even got me a pura vida ball cap for my birthday. Rancho Pacífico has set a new standard for resort service for me. Thanks to the team!

The food may have been the best part of the whole trip. Juan Pablo in the kitchen is a master at his craft, and Viennay, Henry, and Jason were wonderful hosts who gave us world-class service. It was our first time on Costa Rica's Pacific side, and we couldn't have hoped for a better experience. The van ride from San Jose is extremely long, so do yourselves a favor and fly to Quepos. It averages about $100 for a 15-minute flight, worth every penny. We can't wait to come back.

The rooms are nice, but the food service needs to match what you'd expect at a five-star hotel. Breakfast and lunch were very slow, and dinner was especially bad. After drinks and salad, we waited two hours for the food. Guests who arrived half an hour after us got their plates at the same time. It seemed like one person was cooking for the whole hotel. The road up is very steep and rocky, too.
