The room was the biggest problem for us. There was visible mold all over the walls, which is unacceptable and a serious health risk. We usually try to be flexible and don't complain easily, but that needs to be said. We couldn't park on the property at all. Spaces are very limited and work on a first-come, first-served basis. There was also an issue with payment. The owner offered PayPal, cash, or credit card before we arrived, though clearly preferred cash. When we said four days before arrival that we'd pay by card, the machine suddenly “stopped working,” and we were asked to use cash instead. We later heard other guests had the same experience. What looked like a good deal turned out to be a poor choice. We did not have a good stay.

A group with lots of rowdy kids made things a bit disruptive, playing in the pool and eating crisps there. We also lost water a couple of times, though that's normal for the area. The AC gave us some trouble too, but staff helped right away and got it fixed.

The staff were super nice, and the pool was great for cooling off in the humidity. I had a delicious breakfast and good fish pasta for dinner. The place is right by the beach in Uvita, and there are DJs next door on Thursdays.

Jose at the front desk and on the grill is a great guy. His coworker, though, likes to blast music on his iPhone when things would otherwise be quiet. The rooms face the pool, bar, and restaurant, so a peaceful nap can be hard, especially when families or kids are around. We were still glad we stayed and would recommend it. For $52USD in Costa Rica, it's good value: the room was comfortable, had AC, and the WiFi was decent, though not good enough for streaming. The location is nice and close to the beach, and the hostel bar and restaurant is the liveliest spot in Uvita.

For what you pay, the room is clean and the pool and common areas are tidy and well maintained. It is basically a bed, a bookshelf, and AC, though. There’s a restaurant on site, but no complimentary coffee or fridge in the room, so it can feel like you’re pushed to buy things there. No offense to the restaurant, the food and staff are great. Complimentary coffee would go a long way as an improvement.
