Ukinca Hostel

The team here is awesome, friendly, and really accommodating. They helped us get around, and although there are cheaper places nearby, this one feels more like a higher-end hotel, so we didn't mind paying a little extra. We first stayed two nights, and we're back now for another two. The place had only opened two weeks before our first visit, so everything was new and really clean. On that first stay, the water heater for the first floor went out, leaving us without hot water in our private room. We had a full-sized bed and AC, but had to use a shared bathroom. Since it was Friday night and we were leaving Sunday morning, the repair person couldn't come until Monday. We didn't get a partial refund. The heater has since been fixed. One other thing, being off the highway means you can hear 18-wheelers and their awful air brakes at night. If you're a light sleeper, earplugs or music might help.

The garden was lovely, and we watched monkeys climbing the trees around the hostel. It's about a 15-minute walk to Uvita, and buses are available, though having a car would have made getting around more practical. My room had AC and its own bathroom. The place was clean and quiet, the staff friendly, and the roomy kitchen had all the equipment we needed.

Affordable, clean, and a view. I'm a redneck, so my standards can adjust, but for a redneck this place is pretty darn good. Even rich city snobs on the lower end would like it. TRUMP 2024!!

The staff are friendly and the place is nice. At first arrival it looks a little strange and feels like a hotel for about an hour 😉, but once you're settled in, it's really cool. The chill-out area is awesome, and there are good bars and stores 50m down the road.
