El Encanto de Perseverancia

We were a group of six, and from arrival until we left, we were all really impressed and happy with the trip. At first, we'd booked through Friendly Planet with low expectations based on what we'd heard, but as the date got closer, we started looking forward to it. Our guide, Liuba (Love), met us outside the airport and made us feel in good hands straight away. She explained what was coming up, kept us informed, and answered questions. She worked well with the hostel and its staff. We'd arranged three days of Havana tours, including walks through the streets, farm visits, and cooking classes. The morning staff greeted us with plenty of food and smiles every day. Our two main hosts, Jose and Andres, were amazing and could do anything for us. They're there to help with what you need, and we rewarded them well. The house has a generator, but when the power went out a few times, as it usually does, there were still issues. The city has a schedule for outages, and half the hostel was without power for a few hours. The hostel is in a good location and a safe neighborhood. From the building fronts, you'd never know where to find a store or restaurant, but that's what the staff are there for. I'd highly recommend staying at this Hostel if you get the chance, even without taking the tour.

This place is a gem in a poor neighborhood of Havana. The hosts and staff were so lovely and always ready to help. They even made breakfast for us when our transfer was at 5am, and on our last day they let us use another room for a quick shower before our flight home. Thanks to them, we left Cuba with such a bright memory of the Cuban people. Highly recommended, 5*.

Set on a side street in old Havana, this place has a nice, local feel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were nice, and breakfast was good. There's a great rooftop bar, and you're two blocks from the water at Malecón. Many sites are within walking distance.

Breakfast was delicious, and Maribel, José, Ray and of course Mario made us feel so welcome. Such a lovely stay. I'd definitely come back!
