Hotel Club Tropical

We spent 10 days at club tropical after our other travel plans fell through. We had nowhere else to stay, so it was a big help that the staff arranged a booking for us. The value for money is fantastic, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. After we left and spent time at a 'Luxury' hotel in Varadero, we realized how good club tropical had been. Its service, drinks, and food selection were better than at the 'luxury' hotel.

I absolutely love this place. The staff are amazing and there's lots of food to choose from. I'll 100% be back.

After visiting Varadero for 20 years, I’ve finally found a hotel I really love. The staff are genuinely kind and attentive, and you can pick from four different bars, each with its own appeal. The beach is as good as Varadero gets, and I thought the buffet was better than the one at the Iberostar resorts. Club Tropical has the feel of the Cuban “villa” style from the 1990s, since it was among the first hotels built in Varadero. Its practical, welcoming architecture is simple and charming, and the overall atmosphere felt like a more comfortable version of 1990s Cuba. The rooms have classic air conditioners, no elevators, and some have lovely balconies facing the sea. The furniture isn’t vintage. There were a few mosquitoes around the pool in summer, but we could get away from them by sitting at one of the bars. This isn’t a typical, boring beach resort. It’s a hidden gem.
