Barceló Praia Cape Verde

The weekend noise is worth bearing in mind if your room faces Prainha: music went on until around 2 am, then people were still talking, laughing, and shouting through the night. Apart from that, we had a very good two-night stay. The hotel is well kept, the rooms were clean with lovely ocean views, and the location made it easy to reach the beaches and city centre. The infinity pool over the ocean was a highlight, and breakfast had plenty of fresh choices with good quality and variety. The bar and restaurant teams were friendly, especially Junior and the woman making omelettes at breakfast. Erica and Elton at reception gave us a warm welcome and helpful advice. We’d happily return.

Elvis was always smiling and friendly, and Karine made us feel welcome whenever we came into the bar. They were both a great example of how professional the staff were throughout. Our room at Barcelo Praia Cape Verde was just right, with a lovely sea view and first class facilities. We had a fantastic stay.

The staff were such a pleasure to deal with, always polite, friendly, and ready to help. We found the breakfast restaurant had loads of choice, all to a high standard, and the bar and restaurant had a good selection of food and drinks. It’s a very comfortable hotel right beside a small beach. I’d gladly stay at Barcelo Praia Cape Verde again.

We really enjoyed our time here, especially the bistro food and service, and the lovely pool looking out over the ocean. The hotel grounds are attractive and well maintained, and it’s a beautiful base for exploring the area. There were a couple of frustrating practical issues. At check-in we were told we could put everything on the room bill and settle up when leaving, but that didn’t work, so we had to come back later to pay. Staff serving us weren’t at fault, though reception should have explained that a deposit or credit card was needed to use this option. Also, the Ocean View rooms were presented on the website in writing and pictures as having a balcony or terrace. Our first room had neither, and its window couldn’t even be opened, so the description was misleading. We managed to change rooms on day two, to a standard room facing the back with a balcony and still a wonderful view. There was no goodwill gesture for the mix-up.
