Paúl Mar

Veleiro II, the hotel restaurant, was easily the best part of our stay. After long hikes, we looked forward to their freshly prepared seafood, which was absolutely delicious and spoiled us every night. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, with a fantastic seafront view and a great location. My rating takes into account how difficult it is to build infrastructure throughout Paúl village, but there are still plenty of things to improve: the TV reception is poor and there are only three channels, there's no room telephone, WiFi is only available at reception, and breakfast is very simple.

We stopped for a quick lunch while on a car tour. Sitting outside by the ocean was pleasant, but the service was lacklustre and both the food and menu were just OK. Fine for a quick bite, though I wouldn't choose it for a main meal.

The rooms are spacious and have A/C, and the hotel sits right by the sea. There's a taxi and aluguer station right out front. It's a great base for visiting and hiking in the Valley of Paul and most of northeast Sao Antao.

I only tried the restaurant, and their fish of the day was really good.
