Cypriot Swallow Boutique Hotel

Everything was clean, from the spacious rooms to the bathrooms, and there wasn’t an insect in sight. The reception and mini garden were nicely decorated and well maintained. Ms. Dudu welcomed us, she was a lovely, friendly, sweet lady. The neighborhood is quiet most of the time, with some nice restaurants, a taxi stand, and stores close by.

We arrived around 8 p.m. after coming from south Cyprus, and the reception lady was already there waiting for us. The host was very cooperative while we were on our way. It’s about 15-20 minutes from the Ag. Dometios border. There are only a few rooms, and it seemed like we were the only guests that night. Our room was quiet, very clean, and well equipped. We found street parking about two minutes away. There are small shops and restaurants nearby, and we had a nice dinner.

The host was kind and gracious, and the hotel has a distinctive green that feels authentic to the locale. The accommodations are simple and pleasant. We were closer than we’d thought to the main street, about a five-minute walk, and the markets were 15 minutes away. The streets seemed very safe to me.

The room was clean, the shower was hot and didn’t leak, the AC worked well, and the beds weren’t bad. It was close to the old town and kind of cute, with a good price. Still, I wouldn’t stay again and I’m not sure I’d visit the town again. We were only there from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m., so didn’t get to see much. It’s just four hotel rooms around a tiny courtyard. Our room felt small and unimpressive, with one little window and poor lighting. It was so dark it felt like a cave, and we didn’t sleep well. There was weird banging, like hammering, for an hour late at night. The neighborhood seemed a bit run down, though maybe that’s just the area. Lots of kids were in the streets, but I was glad not to be a woman walking around there alone. Staff only show up to let you in, so the lobby is dark and empty at night and in the morning. A small lamp left on would keep guests from stumbling around. They weren’t helpful with recommendations either. I called and messaged about getting a cab from laranaka airport, got no advice either time, then they kind of laughed when I told them we’d been overcharged. They did call us a cab for 6:30 a.m. for our flight, which I really appreciated, since it’s a quiet area and I don’t think a cab would have just driven by. The safe wasn’t attached to anything, so someone could pick it up and walk away with it. It’s supposed to be screwed down.
