City Hostel Brno

It was 38°C and there was no air conditioning. They charge 200€ a night for two people, despite being outside town, and during Moto GP that feels far too expensive. The room was clean and the staff were friendly, but the place is right by a busy road, so it isn’t quiet. They also left the door unlocked after cleaning.

We were fine there in January. The place is simple but tidy, handy for a night while traveling somewhere else. The linen was clean, though it got very warm at night. There’s no kettle or microwave in the kitchen. During tourist season, one kitchen and bathroom for the whole floor might not be enough.

We spent two nights here, one in the hostel and one in the hotel. The hotel was standard but okay, and breakfast was decent. The hostel was a different story: the rooms weren’t very clean, the bed squeaked so loudly it could wake you, and the bathrooms were really not clean or good. They’d “lost” the room key, so we had to ask reception to let us in every time.

Fine for sleeping after a long drive, but I wouldn’t stay more than one night. The hotel is nothing special for the price, the location isn’t good, and breakfast is worse. Service wasn’t good either: the reception guys seemed kind of aggressive and kept laughing with their friends, even with a queue of 10 people waiting to check in. The district didn’t seem great, either. In the morning we saw that 2 cars in the parking lot behind the hotel had been stolen. Hopefully my car was parked in the hotel’s parking.
